Primarily vegan, every once in a while i will give into the temptation of cheese...im really trying though:)
About Me:
Im 24 yrs old and have recently become a vegetarian. I remember when I was younger and seeing trucks full of chickens or cows would make me cry. I knew what was about to happen to them and I would sometimes say a prayer for them. This past year I finally did my research and learned about factory farms and the cruelty that occurs. I was sickened to say the least and I have since vowed to never eat meat again.
hi michelle. i'm trying to be vegan too. have you read skinny bitch? it is a great book that explains why cheese is so addicting...cheese actually changes the chemistry in your brain when eaten.
"Cheese is produced with casein, a substance that when digested by humans breaks down into several chemicals, including casomorphine, an opiate.[23] Cheese is (and, to a lesser extent, other dairy products are) therefore suspected by some to play a role in behavioral disorders among children, especially with regards to autism.[24]
Some even go so far as to promote casein-free diets for everyone.[25] It is also one of the reasons cited by some vegans for avoiding dairy as well as meat.[26]"

yeah, well, my Mom and sister aren't so bad. But my Dad and brother and my brothers family are farmers, so...well they are country and think I am so ridiculous.
Yeah, they can be insensitive as far as the kids are concerned and they would never buy a free range turkey, but I don't go for any meat, but I am bringing tofurkey for my family, but my husband is a chicken eater, so I have to deal with him too...
bleh!
Glad you like my page! Hey, if you need some images for your page, you can find a great selection on my website. Just go to: www.maketheconnection.co.nr and see the 'image gallery' page.
I'd like to brainstorm ways to be active and create awareness about the plight of animals. I think we could all post about events here too. From Pamphlet design ideas, vegan bake offs, protests...what are you doing to create awareness?

We're really getting ready to do some great stuff here at VegHaven!
I made a video at the Farm Sanctuary this past Friday. We'll have all the animals VegHaven has adopted on it!
I'll be posting that one this week but I thought you'd like this one we made of us on our way there LOL
What have you been up to?
Namaste!
